I am trying to complete my registration but I don't think I have a "10 digit DSS investor share code".
This field can’t be empty, what can I do? (typically applies to Greek nationals.)
Quick answer - If you do not have a DSS investor share code, please instead provide the concatenation of the following four elements:
- 2 character ISO country code (GR in the case of Greece)
- Birth date – in the format YYYYMMDD
- First five characters of first name (with hashes if less than 5 characters)
- First five characters of surname (removing prefixes and right pad with hashes)
So, for example, Achilleas Filo, born 4 July 1965, would be: GR19650704ACHILFILO#
Additional rules:
- For the name elements, there is a conversion/removal of diacritic characters, apostrophes, hyphens, spaces etc using the transliteration table in ESMA’s Guidelines
- Prefixes to surnames must be removed unless they are ‘attached’
e.g. ‘Von der Leyen’ is ‘LEYEN’; McNeil is ‘MCNEI’ (rather than ‘NEIL#’) - The individual’s full name should form the basis of the concatenation – incorrect abbreviations or nicknames must not be used (e.g. ‘JAMES’ instead of ‘JIM##’)
- Titles (e.g. ‘Prof’, ‘Dame’ etc) should be removed
- All UPPER CASE
