AutoInvest is InvestEngine’s tool that ensures that our clients’ uninvested cash isn’t left to build up in the portfolio.
Instead, AutoInvest puts that money to work automatically. We do this by investing any uninvested cash each day, based on the investor’s chosen portfolio weights. This ensures that investors don’t miss out in rising markets.
AutoInvest is turned on automatically as part of our Savings Plans feature, so investors can be sure their cash is automatically being put to work, however regularly they invest. Orders made via the AutoInvest feature are placed at midday in time for the trading cycle later that afternoon. If you switch AutoInvest off, after 12 pm, the orders for that day will still be executed.
To turn AutoInvest on or off, simply head to the portfolio you wish to edit and find the ‘Options’ button. From this menu, you’ll be able to toggle ‘AutoInvest available cash’ on or off.
You can also set your cash buffer, which will only invest cash that exceeds the specified amount you set. For example, if you set a cash buffer of £50 and you have a total cash balance of £75, AutoInvest will only invest £25.
Please note: Autoinvest will not Rebalance your portfolio. To do this clients must use the Rebalance feature. You can find out how to do so here: How can I make use of the Rebalance Portfolio feature?
