When you transfer a portfolio, for example, from one account type to another (such as from a GIA to an ISA portfolio), there are temporary restrictions on trading activity. This ensures the transfer is completed accurately and safely.
Can I Place New Orders During a Transfer?
❌ No. Once a portfolio transfer is in progress, you won’t be able to place any new buy or sell orders in that portfolio.
This includes:
- Manual trades
- Auto-invest orders
- Rebalancing
- Withdrawals
What Happens to Open Orders?
If you had any unsettled or pending orders before the transfer started:
- These will need to settle fully (T+2) before the transfer can be completed.
- You may see the order marked as ‘Order in process’ until settlement is finalised.
How Long Does the Freeze Last?
Trading is paused only during the transfer process. Once the transfer is complete, all normal activity — including investing, withdrawing, and rebalancing — will be available again.
Can I Cancel the Transfer to Resume Trading?
If you urgently need to make changes or access funds during a transfer, please contact our support team. In some cases, a transfer can be stopped or delayed, but this depends on the stage it’s at.
