AutoInvest is a feature that automatically invests money into your portfolio based on the settings you choose, saving you time and helping you stay consistent with your investment goals.
How It Works
When you set up AutoInvest:
- Your chosen amount (e.g., £20 weekly) is added to your portfolio on your selected schedule.
- InvestEngine automatically splits the money across your chosen ETFs, based on your portfolio weights.
- An order is created and placed as part of our daily trading window, which runs from around 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm on business days.
You don’t need to log in or confirm the trade- it all happens in the background.
When Are Orders Placed?
- If your auto-invest amount is received before 2:00 pm on a business day, the order will usually be placed that same day.
- If the money arrives after 2:00 pm, it will be included in the next day’s trading window.
Where Does My Money Go?
Your money is invested according to your current portfolio weights — this could be across one or several ETFs. If you adjust your weights in a DIY portfolio, the next auto-invest order will reflect the new breakdown.
Can I Edit or Cancel an AutoInvest Order?
Once an auto-invest order is placed, it shows in your account like any other DIY order. You can:
- Cancel the order before the 2:00 pm cut-off (via the ‘Orders placed’ banner in the portfolio)
- Adjust or pause your auto-invest settings at any time
AutoInvest and Fractional Shares
AutoInvest uses fractional investing, which means even small amounts are split precisely across your ETFs — no need to buy whole shares.
