InvestEngine is designed for UK residents who want a straightforward, low-cost way to invest long-term using ETFs. To open an account, there are a few important requirements you’ll need to meet.
You can open an account if you are:
- At least 18 years old
- A UK resident for tax purposes
- Able to provide a UK residential address and UK current bank account
- Opening the account for yourself (not on behalf of someone else unless you have legal authority to do so)
You don’t need to be an expert to open an account. Our platform is designed for all levels of experience, from complete beginners to seasoned investors.

Important restrictions
We’re unable to open accounts for:
- Non-UK residents (including UK nationals living abroad)
- U.S. persons, including U.S. citizens and U.S. tax residents
- Businesses which are not UK-registered limited companies or Limited Liability Partnerships [LLPs] (for business accounts)

Types of Accounts Available
- General Investment Account (GIA) – Available to all eligible clients
- Stocks & Shares ISA – For UK residents aged 18 or over, subject to ISA allowance rules

SIPP (Self-Invested Personal Pension) – For UK residents who want to save for retirement. You can contribute if you:
- Are under age 75
- Have UK-relevant earnings (such as employment or self-employment income), or
- Are making low-level contributions within the £3,600 annual gross limit for non-earners
- Business Accounts– For UK-registered limited companies or Limited Liability Partnerships only
