If you have a DIY portfolio (ISA, GIA or Business), your money is not invested automatically.
Once you add money, you'll need to choose what to invest in. When you place your buy order, we’ll carry out the trade on the next working day. Once you've made your choices, we’ll carry out the trades on the next working day (Working days are Monday to Friday, not including bank holidays).
If you have a Managed portfolio, your money is usually invested on the next working day after it arrives in your account.
- We aim to invest your money on the next working day after it arrives.
- If you made your deposit before 11 am on a working day, it will likely be invested the same day.
How to Add Funds
To get started, log into your account, select your portfolio, and click 'Add Funds' or 'Options'. You can add funds via the following methods:
1. Instant Bank Transfer
Our Open Banking service provides a secure link to your banking app or website. You log in and authorise the transfer amount, then return to InvestEngine where your funds will normally show immediately in your portfolio balance.
- Quick, secure, and fully under your control.
- We never see your bank login or password.
2. Manual Bank Transfer
This works like a standard bank transfer. After selecting 'Manual Bank Transfer' in your dashboard and entering your deposit amount, you’ll see the InvestEngine Sort Code and Account Number. Complete the transfer from your registered bank account using your Portfolio reference (IP******) as the description. Where do I find my Portfolio reference number?
3. Direct Debit (Legacy)
If your bank doesn’t support Variable Recurring Payments, you can set up Direct Debits. Allow 5 working days for changes to take effect.
- 3 working days before your chosen charge date: The payment shows as Processing in your Transactions tab. Your bank starts processing the Direct Debit.
- Charge date: Funds are deducted from your bank account.
- 2 working days after charge date: We receive the funds.
- 1 working day after receipt: Funds appear in your portfolio.
Summary: Direct Debit payments typically appear 3–5 working days after the charge date (or 6 working days if counting from when the transaction is created on your dashboard).
Savings Plans (VRP) payments only take 1 working day to reach your account.
