We’re sorry to see you go, but if you’ve decided to stop using InvestEngine, we’ll help you close your account securely and in line with our regulatory obligations.
This article explains how to close your account, what happens next, and what we do with your data after closure.
What you’ll need to do first
Before we can close your account, your investments must be fully withdrawn or transferred, please ensure that:
- You’ve sold all your investments, or requested a full transfer to another provider
- Your withdrawn cash has reached your linked bank account
- All pending actions (such as transfers or top-ups) are complete

If you've never funded or used your account:
- Just let us know, if your account holds no cash or assets and has had no activity, we can usually close it straight away
How to Request Account Closure
Once your account has no funds, email our Client Support team with the subject line:
“Account Closure Request”.
We’ll confirm the request with you and securely close your account.
What Happens After Closure?
- You’ll no longer be able to log into your InvestEngine account
- We’ll stop sending you promotional or investment-related emails (unless required by regulation)
- Any active features like AutoInvest, Savings Plans, or reporting alerts will be cancelled
What Happens to Your Data?
Under UK regulations, including the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rules and GDPR, we are required to retain certain information about your account for a number of years, even after you close it. This includes:
- Transaction records
- Identity verification documents
- Regulatory communications
We retain this information securely for regulatory, legal, and audit purposes only, and we won’t use it for marketing once your account is closed.

Can I reopen my account in the future?
Yes, you can! If you’d like to reopen your InvestEngine account at any time, please contact our Client Services team at support@investengine.com. We may ask you to complete a few security steps to reactivate your account.
A quick reminder
- If your account still holds assets or cash, we will not be able to close it until all funds are removed
- If you’re acting on behalf of someone else (such as for a deceased client), please contact us for guidance and documentation requirements
