If it looks like your order hasn’t gone through or is taking longer than expected, here’s how to check what’s happening and what you can do.
How to tell if an order is stuck
- Log in to your InvestEngine account.
- Go to the portfolio where you placed the order.
- At the top of the screen, look for a blue banner that says ‘Orders placed’ (the banner may be dimmer in dark mode).
- If the order is still showing there and hasn’t updated after one full business day, it may be stuck.
You can also check the portfolio activity for updates. A stuck order may remain in "Processing" without showing a completed trade or settlement.
Trading and settlement timelines
- Trades are processed in a daily batch between 2:30 pm and 7:00 pm on business days.
- If you placed your order before 2:00 pm, it should be included in that day’s trading.
- Orders placed after 2:00 pm will be picked up on the next business day.
- Once your trade is executed, it settles on a T+2 basis – this means two working days after the trade date.
If you ordered over the weekend or Bank Holiday
Orders placed during weekends or bank holidays will be processed on the next business day. No trading takes place outside of business days.
